Cottage Hill Road in Mobile Alabama is no longer an alternative to Airport Boulevard. For anyone who has lived in Mobile for as long as I have, the writing has been on the wall for a while now. It’s often just as busy as Airport. Why? well, that is easy to answer. It’s because so many people are moving out to west Mobile and Cottage Hill can get you there.
In this video, I cover several highlights on Cottage Hill road, including one of my all-time favorite restaurants. The Big Time Diner! This year, they are celebrating 25 years of business, and from the looks of it, they don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I remember eating there over 20 years ago and when compared to eating there last week, the quality still remains. I’m convinced that’s the only reason they are still in business. The only way to stay in business that long is by providing excellent quality and taking care of those you serve.
Directly across the street is one of the largest churches in the state of Alabama, Cottage Hill Baptist Church. It has had many nicknames over the years, but one that will always remain is definitely “Six Flags over Jesus” or “fort God”. This church has had some amazing pastors, and Dr. Fred Wolfe is just one of them. Bro. Fred as he was known to so many, left an incredible legacy.
Another staple in the city of Mobile is the Mobile Popcorn Company. This is the place to go for popcorn of course, but so many other rental items. From popcorn poppers to jumpy jumps, they’ve got you covered.
The Seafood House is another stop along the way that gets lots of attention from folks in Mobile. It’s only been around for a few years but is slowly becoming a very popular place to eat. Just look in the parking lot and you will see. VERY popular!
B & B Pet Stop is a great place to visit. Of course, it’s a great place for pet supplies, but as a parent, I used to take my children there for a quick field trip in the middle of the week just to see what they had. It never disappoints.
Meat Boss is another “must-see” place that is actually a “must-eat” place as well. Most people in Mobile Alabama know about the Meat Boss. Not only do they have great food, but the owners are great as well. They really do treat you like family. That is not that uncommon though in Mobile. People are friendly. That is just part of the deep south!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this insider’s look at one of Mobile Alabama’s busiest streets. I hope this helps fill you in on all of the details so you can be better prepared and gain some excitement before your move to Mobile Alabama, or the eastern shore.
